Avi --> Mpeg/SVCD etc conversion

Its been a while since I converted avi files, to Mpeg1/2/SVCD etc.
In the past it was quite the arduous effort, using quite a few different programs ,like Virtua Dub etc etc.

I wanted to know, if there is a good , all encompassing program, free or paid for, that is currently available, that would allow me to convert avi .. or any other file type, to mpeg/svcd etc?

It's asking me something about locating a cinema craft encoder ... do i need this application too ?

CCE is the best converter but it comes with quenc and hcenc which are free

CinemaCraft doesnt seem to be free, or am i missing something.
And what does quenc and hcens mean :confused:

Quenc and hcenc do the same job as cce that they encode the video

When you have loaded the avi just pick quenc or hcenc from the drop down menu
