AVI to DVD conversion for mac osx

Looking to converts some xmax vids for the family on my mums mac but cannot find any softeware to do this....anyone know of a good preferably free program?

I used Flip4Mac Pro to import them into iDVD and then simply created the DVD I wanted

iDVD does but I always get realy poor video out of iDVD your best bet is to get VisualHub. Its only about £10 but it works like a treat!

First and only bit of software I have a paid for and it was well worth it!

Don't Handbrake only convert DVD to varied other formats, but not the other way around?

At least that's what I know.

Open in Quicktime save/export as Quicktime file. Drag resulting Quicktime file into iDVD. Burn. Jobs a good one.

Yep handbrake goes from DVD to other formats not the other way around. Very good program for converting DVDs to ipod format

Yeah sorry my bad..

I've only ever used handbrake to rip/encode files from DVD.. assumed it went the other way too! haha oh well!

Mental note - "Assumption is the mother of all **** ups"

Mpeg2works

Mpeg2works 4 is another very useful application which allows you to batch process most file types to be put onto DVD. I use it quite a bit.
