How do!

How does the navigation work? Do you put the nav disk in, plan your route, then drive - take the disc out, and pop music/dvd in?

How far can you navigate like this, and does it remember routes travelled before without needing the disk?

I take it the screen isnt removeable? Is any part of it removeable to render non stealable?

You would be better getting a Sat nav ready dvd drive, mout it under a seat, keeping the nav disk in that and use the slot loader on the Avic for your music :)

aye of course i would, but that pushes it out of my budget.

I was just hoping that i having to use a navi disk wouldnt be too much of a burden.

GSXMovistar - if what you say about loading a region is true then this would be perfect...

Also does the DVD player work when the vehicle is moving? I assume it does, but the new factory ones in range rovers halt playback

ok great, cheers

Also - the performance meter stuff - does that come with it - free as part of the software?

Any good?

ok cheers folks - about to take the plunge on this i reckon'

Stll have reservations about this Nav in memory affair tho...

If say i was driving from London to Birmingham, popped the disk in did the route find, swapped disks and set off up the M40, but had to turn off due to road works would the nav be able to reroute without the DVD in? For all the distance? Like how much surrounding map is included?

I know the tomtom i have now only requires 128MB cards for all the UK, so it may be possible that it loads in a large chumk of the UK into the 64MB, but i'm a bit concerned of a loss of functionality in the navigation side. Like POIs missing.

If you tell me it manages most normal journeys with one look at the DVD, then i'll be purchasing Monday, with a 6 disc changer...

Also, does it have Speed Cameras as POIs? Like my TomTom?

Then does the route memory issue matter? Surely you can leave the Nav disc in the HU and play your CDs/MP3s from then changer?

well yeah, really...

DVDs, MP3s etc changer is CD only...

Know i'm being picky, but @ £1000 i think its understandable - especially when i want to replace this tomtom setup with something more permanent, at much more cost without sacrificing functionality :)

well, NEW AvicX1 is 850, they'll do a changer, all in for 900.

pretty good deal i reckon'
