AVIs in Media centre

Hi All
I have finaly managed to install media centre on my HTPC (5 attempt) and need to know what I need to view AVI videos. I have a load of my old DVD backed up on my HD and want to watch them but media centre is not playing what do I need to do??

install ffdshow should sort it out

look on the 'free-codecs' website for it

Yep, isntall FFDshow and that should help you play most files.

You may also want quicktime alternative and such codecs.

Download http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~chrismox/MCE.rar and there's a .reg file there that will force MCE to recognise all video formats.

Pity, I wrote a huge guide for all this but it seems to have dropped off the bottom of the forums somewhere...
