Avivo vs Purevideo

As it is seen, especially with the video second, our old good Athlon 64 reached its limits, the average of occupation CPU in reading is of more than 96 %.

GeForce 7300GS or GeForce 6800GS,
For the performances, one sees that the reading passes from 59 % to 44 % on average with the video of X-Men and from 96 % to 61 % for the video of the Greatest game. Moreover, the latter does not culminate at any time to 100 %, which allows a reading constantly fluid.

Although we carried out several tests, reinstalled Windows and right the drivers and the software necessary, we did not obtain better results. Thus, occupation CPU average with X1300 Pro is 84 % approximately, against a little less than 83 % with the X1800XL. These scores were confirmed to us by other tests carried out by thirds

H.264: Victorious NVIDIA,

Basically:
Athlon 64 3800+ @ 2 GHz. = 96% CPU utilisation.
6800 or 7300GS = 44-61% CPU utilisation
X1300 Pro = 84%
X1800XL = a little less than 83 %

Basicially, Nvidia have faster H.264 support because of the dedicated Purevideo logic and it goes on to say that finally the drivers are released, but we are still waiting for the software. (the 7300/7600/7900 should come with free software).

I wouldn't take the results as gospel though. The report is a little confusing.
