Hey

I wish to warn people of this poor quality pump top.

Looks nice but thats it.

Mine has two faults, I have two of them and they Both do have same faults.

1. Leaking at oring seal. The oring is not thick enough. And its the one they supplied.
2. Pump rotor hitting inside of pump top causing loud knocking sounds

This happens on both tops.

With my xspc top its fine.

Waste of money and time, cant get them replaced for better untill bank holiday is finished. Annoyed is an under statement.

I used to like alphacool, not anymore if they cba to test products.

Are you sure its the top at fault? leaking o-ring and impeller hitting the top says to me that the o-Ring is fitted to the wrong side of the pump?

I have two of these tops (plexi), both have been fine apart from the natural fracturing around the ports.

I know you had to ask. But yea im sure.

It leaked out one side, the oring is 100% too thin. I added some plumbers tape and fixed the leak.
Thats when I found the knocking fault. How old is your top? This one is 4 weeks old and I only got round to fitting it.

I suppose adding more tape to widen the gap between top and pump may fix it but thats a bodge job repair for something that shouldn't have got through quality checks. Never mind twice

Both my tops are around 3 years old, may be a change is design on the newer ones?

Though I did have the slow leak problem mentioned in that xs link and I can see how someone could strip the thread if they didn't work around every screw quarter turn at a time as the plexi is very brittle.

I think another problem is dry oring's, ek are bad for this on their cylinder reservoirs. If it's too dry they'll stick and make life difficult, rather than move easily into position.

The oring they supply seems massively to small. If it was 1 or 1.5mm thicker it would solve the leak and mabey solve the knocking noise as well. I have orderd a 3.5mm thick oring and will test it next week.

May be... anyway I used a bunch of plumbers tape around the seal to add reduce height and its running fine and silent. So I might aswell keep it.
