Hey guys,

I’ve just upgraded all 5 of my case fans from generic ones to some Antec TRI-Cools (80mm) – my friend has been using them for a while and they’re excellent.

The 3 speed settings are very useful :D

I hope to see Overclockers stocking them very soon?

Anyway, my current fans are all beginning to make noises and vibrate on the case, another reason for my upgrade? How do I eliminate this? I know Vantec do some kits, but what are they like?

What else can I try to reduce vibration?

Cheers,

SW.

I've never had this problem myself. Possibly becaused i tend to tighten screws very tight accidentally which i believes stops it... maybe.

Well an easy solution would be to stick bluetack or put bits of elastic band in the corners of the fan and then screw it in and these will absorb some of the vibrations.

If you push the fan does it stop the vibrations? Possible faulty fans? Does your friend have similar problems?

I use these Acousti Ultra-Soft Arrowhead Fan Mounts and they work very wel

If the fans started to vibrate then I would change them to new ones

Yeh the mounts are usually very good.

Having elastic bands sandwiched between the fan and the case can also stop the vibration if you want a quick fix, does not always work but you may have some success.

Confirmed! Made such a difference to my akasa 120mm fans that i bought 2 kits (four fans worth) Simply by disengaging the fan from the case with soft rubber, simple but useful innovation :)
