So I had a bit of a look and came up with this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,334.89
(includes shipping: £0.00)

I already have a rx480 video card but ill want to upgrade this to something beefier in a couple of months, priority right now is development work and I need something faster than what I have, ill worry about better graphics later :)

As per the title i dont really have a clue anymore, I just picked some of these things randomly, expecially the memory. If someone with a clue could tell me if this is decent or has better suggestions that would be really appreciated.

My budget is up to 1500 but obviously if i can save money I am up for that

Many thanks.

Ryzen has way more cores/threads than the i7 7700K.

You can save money also with the 1700 non X which includes a cooler.

Thanks mate, couple of questions though if someone could help.

Isnt the intel chip supposedly considerably better for gaming? Or is there not that much difference and having twice the cores would be real nice for sure? I havent had a good track record with amd products to be honest and im a bit wary of going down that route again..

I was under the impression the noctua cooler was better, or this a preference thing or just a case of 20 quid cheaper for roughly the same sort of product?

Is there much difference between the motherboards these days or are some accepted generally better than others or do people just pick brands they have good experience with?

Cheers.

The AMD is slower yes currently at lower resolutions, but at high resolutions the gfx card has more impact thus the difference becomes negligible.

But games (and some already have) got updates to work/improve better with the Ryzen chips, plus as games get more complex the Ryzen should outlast the 7700K.

I picked that board because it has SLI/Crossfire, Uk base support centre, 3yr warranty and you get 20 euros for Steam - http://gaming.gigabyte.eu/AMDmotherboard/index.aspx

Yes the Noctua is better, but this one looks better, still decent performance.
