First, a bit of background:

A guy called Rob is studying automotive engineering at Cardiff.

His old car was a road rally-prepped Chevette which he built up from stock into a 1300cc screamer.

I have to say that the guy is an absolute legend - he crashed it and within a week, he had replaced all the panels, fitted turrets, repainted the entire car (THRICE!) and had it back on the road.

A couple of months later, there was a bit of valve/piston interferance (ouch) and within 24 hours he had located a new engine, done a 300-odd mile round trip to pick it up, swapped all his trick bits into it, rebored it, fitted it and was back on the road.

He sold it last year (for £2,250 - not seen a small-engine shuv go for that much. Ever.) and got a Skoda Estelle 130 to replace it:

30k from new, mint condition, he planned to fit it with a newer engine on bike throttle bodies and DIY EFI, strip it out and use the project for his final project at uni.

A couple of days ago, he announced that he was selling the skud...And I've been guessing why....

Buuuuuuuut....

I cant belive i can actually say i own a KP30!

pics are crap as its dirty and raining and not even cooled down from the drive!

Its got 12months MOT and 6months Tax, 1000cc engine, 5 SPEED BOX, Lotus twin cam steels and streched rubber (ish) a bike can and is so solid and utterly rot free it would make a new corolla look rough! ;D 61 genuine k on the clock and a load of spares. Ive also got a 1500cc Lite ace engine lined up!!! Oh yes baby dreams can come true....J Tin is the future - i Blame Hotwire, Rmad and Asconadaz amongst others 8-)

Plans include stripping it out, dropping the front, new motor, new paint, big dirty oil cooler and wing mounted mirrors just to start with (well in time for CARS)

any pics for inspiration, potato chops, suggestions and web links much apprecieated. IM SO EXCITED, but now i must get some sleep as i have another shift at 9!

More pics tomorow when i can see!

Hmm....do I detect a slight sarcastic tone to your post? :p
Me? Sarcastic? Never! ;)

Fair enough if it’s the kinda motors that you like then alls good, just not the sort of thing that floats my boat. :)
This and so much more...Despite what Fox likes to tell himself, I don't have an all-raging boner for anything made before 1988, nor do I automatically detest anything with power steering and electric windows...

Yeah, I'm with you. At the time, everyone thought the Skoda was crap, whats suddenly changed?

Not everyone...Some knew what good rally and fast road cars they make with the right modifications.

Don't be daft. Don't you realise how cars like that have magic powers?

They can go from being utterly carp to simply amazing simply by getting old.

Ah, you still don't get it, boyo...And I thought we had the start of something beautiful with that Micra...

Maybe I should have added "IMO" on the end, i'm sure you'd hate my Honda Civic.

Got nothing against Civics...Certainly don't hate them. Not a fan of the looks of the last two generations (breadvan one and the new cyclops thingy...) but before that they looked great. Nice engines too.
