Just had a great weekend with my drivers out in Bahrain for Round 2 of the 2011/2012 V8 Championship.

This is some great footage from Onboard Abdulaziz Al-Yaeesh who, after an incident in Round 1 found he had a bent chassis. This left him 8th on the grid .. but Aziz is a great racer and he fights his way through the field to finish 3rd.

The best of the action is after a Safety Car bunches up the field at 8:40 (link in Video Comments).

The ones you see are SC09s. They are 'Leased' to a Team (2 cars min) who are normally allied to a large company. They lease the cars and sign (usually local) drivers to race them. I think it's around £150k to lease the 2 cars (you get all tyres, 2 sets per race, all fuel and a comprehensive spares package also).

We worked out you would probably need around half that to run them although that was when they travelled outside of Bahrain (this season in Bahrain only).

There are some SC06 cars (you see them behind) which are fully arrive n drive, you turn up with your suit and helmet and everything is done for you.

Not sure the costs but it is very good and you do get to race alongside F1 and GP2 (The V8s support the GP2 and F1 rounds in Bahrain).
