Awesome Vulcan Video

Pretty sure they got a contract to have the engines rebuilt. I thought the main issue was the wing roots corroding ?

There is no one who can rebuild the Olympus 20201's. None of the jigs or test gear exist. I believe they have a spare engine again after one of the ones that was found to have excess metal particles in the oil was cleared for flight operations after a deep inspection, but I could be wrong on that.

What they are trying to get funding for now is Mod 2221, which is a fatigue life extension to the airframe, focussing on the leading edge of the wing.

More info about it here

Was lucky enough to see it flying at Farnborough last year, awesome plane, stayed true to its reputation of setting off the car alarms in the garage as it went over :p

Seen them flying a few times at air shows and what not. Awesome noise they make.

Happened to see the one at the RAF Museum in London last week. Walking under those wings and fuselage is just incredible, I knew they were big, but didn't realise how big until I was under it. I would have taken a photo, but it was too big for my camera.

Awesomeness:

Thanks for posting that, an awesome video.

Got stuck for an hour on the M6 earlier due to a lorry fire (not mine) whiled away the time watching this, read the book "Vulcan 607" countless times, still nice to see the story in pictures and to see those involved.

I Met Bob Tuxford at Bruntingthorpe a few weeks back, a charming and very humble man.

I can remember as a kid living in Gütersloh (When it was still RAF Gütersloh) in Germany. It was a hot sunny day during the school holidays and we were all down at one of the swimming lakes enjoying the weather when a Vulcan came in low. It was like the sun was blotted out and you could physically feel the sound. I remeber looking at the lake and seeing the water, for want of a better word, shaking
