I was going to get myself a hx1200i 2025 but at £260 i thought maybe not just yet until i saw an ax1600i for £230 from corsair refurb. So i snapped it up and should be here tomorrow. I know 1600w is massive overkill for my current pc as it pulls only 750watts but i am planning on using my current 8.5 year old hx1000i for my backup 10700k/rtx 4080 super build. It will be a 13700k/rtx 4080 super once i upgrade my current 13700k to nova lake early 2027 cause you know intel delays. the only thing i will benefit from the ax1600i is the titanium efficiency that can do 92% at 10% load which my pc pulls around 150watts at idle. Compared to my hx1000i which does 85% at idle. Might only be around £3 a month in savings but it's a saving. Yes i am trying to justify my purchase so my misses can not argue my point so i lose an argument, while she is breathing down my neck as i type this :)

Don't you only get a 12 month warranty on refurbs? Screw that on such a expensive item. You could have had a brand new FSP Hydro PTM PRO 1650W 80+ Platinum with a 10 year warranty for £269. The extra £39 is worth it for the extra 9 years of warranty cover. You could have also stuck with your 1200w and saved a bunch of money by going for the Phanteks AMP GH 1200W V2 which comes with all it's cables nicely braided and is only £159.90. PSU's are one thing I would never buy as "refurbished" because firstly you will never know why it has been "refurbished" and secondly, has it been properly done or just turned on to see if it works and thrown back in it's box.

The go to move for anyone interested in a Corsair PSU 2nd hand is to make sure they have the invoice :) then you get all their remaining years of cover as yours.

Had an invoice from another country and not my name and they sent me a replacement, to my address.

This is a refurb direct from corsair website and listed of course as certified refurbished with 2 year warranty

as said above, a PSU is something I would pay an extra £40 for the extended warranty on.
just had a 750w Corsair PSU fail at the almost 5 year mark.
was replaced under warranty at zero cost to me, (just had to wait about a month for the replacement to arrive)

Beat me to it, had just made a new post regarding refurbished ax1600i, from what I’ve heard Corsair have rock solid refurbished program, but having said that I’ve never ordered one myself yet, the lack of ATX 3.1 spec is a matter of concern for future proofing

so i have pushed this psu to the limits today and managed to pull 1000 watts. 600watts on the gpu and 250watts on the cpu. tested memory and all fans and leds to 100%. Surprisingly quiet at 100% fan speed but was pulling 1000watts give or take 10-20watts. Left that running for 2 hours and all was fine. The reason for my purchase of a refurb from corsair is entirely due to there extremely good refurb quality. If it doesn't pass the same tests as they have to from new, then they are scraped for the most part.
