I have an AX850 PSU that I got in 2012. Over the past few days my PC wouldn't turn on, so I fiddled around with the lead and it worked. Today however, it didn't work and my machine wouldn't turn on at all, I am only running a stock 3930k with 16GB memory and an old HD 4870 with an SDD and one HDD. I have tried a different lead, removing and replacing the cables and I have tried jump starting it, nothing happens when I plug it back in. This is one of the most reliable PSUs on the market, so is the PSU dead and if so what do I need to do?

If it is indeed dead or faulty your are covered by your warranty, contact the PSU suppler.

But the thing is, and I have still got other faulty stuff that I need to send back, is that I need to pay to send it back and wait for them to process it and send a replacement. Also, I really really need my PC, as I am currently creating a tech demo portfolio.

You will not 100% know until you contact them, sometimes they can send you a pre-paid envelope/sticker. Yes they would evaluate the issue (try to recreate the problem) and then send you a replacement.

Does Corsair even have a RTM in the UK or would I need to send it to Japan or the States or something?
