hey all,

We have a AXIS 221 Network Camera setup at work. When trying to view the webcam through a browser it asks you to install AXIS Media Control (AMC). AMC isan ActiveX component that enables live video to be viewed in a Web browser.

1. Now i have been asked to find out if there is any otherway of viewing the camera that doesnt ask for this activeX plugin installing.

2. If not to find a camera that will allow us to view it through a web browser without having to install some 3rd party plugin.

Problem being we have 1000's of users and dont want to have to go around installing this plugin for every user that wants to view the camera.

You can use the java applet (live view config) in IE or a still image.

The best route is to drop IE and use firefox, that uses 'server push', basically pushes jpegs at you.

java applet (live view config) did the trick and dont know how i missed it :P

thanks Telescopi

and yes i would like to roll out Firefox but unfortunately that would be a hell of a lot of work and not a decision i could make :P
