Am I OK using two at the front alone? Or should all four be used to make it more stable?

I don't want a French tin can to fall on my face when I'm under it is all :)

two at the front is enough.. one thing i'd never do is put a car on four axle stands (i.e.) no wheels on the ground - they just arent stable enough..

and remember kids.. a jack is for lifting an lowering, not supporting :D

Also remember if you stick axle stands under the rear (or if you jack up both rear wheels) you won't have anything stopping the car moving forwards as the handbrake is on the rear. :) So, stick it in gear. :)

Got a few blocks of wood - not too heavy like but it's all about the way you wedge it innit? :p

edit: And I'm lifting the front up, but cheers :)

Replacing rotten 205 water pipes!

It's even more fun when jacking the back of a rwd car on a sloping driveway :p

If you're taking the wheels off then put them under the body just incase , or if not then put the spare under. I've had a car twist of axles stands before & the wheel stopped me from getting very thin

And the Brown Liquid surrounding you wasn't Oil!... :D

Yep... Just Two Stands, Wheel Chocks for the Rear (even though the hand break is on!.. Don't trust it!), Place you spare under the axel too!...

Easy Peasy!. :)

Wonderful.

A new set of pipes all sorted. Then the water pump starts peeing water all over the place.

Always the way with the cooling system. Typically when you fix one problem any other weak point makes itself apparent pretty soon afterwards.

Well after this I've replaced it all barring the thermostat!

The Rad is new anyway. Replacing the pump on a 205 gti means cambelt and tensioner too :(

At least I'll know they've been done now I suppose.
