Hi All,

Mother in law is after a new car. The 3 in the running were the 2 series active tourer luxury, b class amg line, Cmax Titanium X. She's not sure that the 2 series is worth the extra £8k over the other two, so unless it turns out to be fanatic, I imagine it's between the B Class and the C Max. Which is the better car?

I know this doesn't answer your question but I don't understand people who want to buy such ugly high topped cars. What's the benefit? What can it do that a Focus or Focus Estate can't?

This isn't directly aimed at the OP.

Mercedes or Ford? Hmmm...

If they are equally reliable, that question sort of answers itself. Look at the interior quality of the Ford vs the Merc for starters.

They are much much easier to get into and out of if you are struggling mobility wise.

my mother has a C-Max and you are almost stood up when you swing your legs out. Ugly car but its surprisingly easy to get in and out of, at least compared to my e46 convertible.

Exactly. My dad drives a Tiguan and he finds it so much easier to get into and out of compared to most cars.

Our C-Max is way better in terms of accommodating a toddler than our old Focus was, just the added cabin height plus the fact the seats are further off the floor so less bending when strapping them in is a bonus.

I actually don't find the MK2 "ugly" either for what it is.

I drive a fair few b-class's. Our standard hire car.

Do not get the AMG version bad ride completely ruins the car. I quite like them a lot of room for a little car and does feel better than focus / golf.

She's gone for the the c-max in the end. She already has a b class albeit the old shape one and felt like a change. Also felt that the 2.0 auto titanium x was a lot of car for the money. She is also a shareholder of a ford franchise dealer so got a decent deal and will have good service rates etc.
