hey guys,

currently doing a build and being a tight a*** im looking at getting a B Grade PSU
has anyone here had any experience? any issues with said part or warranty with manufacture?

looking for a 850w (quiet) PSU for a 5600x and 3080 streaming/gaming system?

i do like the look of the phanteks revolt pro 850w, but looking to cut some costs a bit, if push comes to shove ill get a new one but a saving is a saving right?

There's a Corsair RM850 in there for a tenner less. I am wary about B-grade because of the tight fisted 90 day warranty. Yes, some members have been able to register with the manufacturer for the full warranty but what happens if you have to go through OCUK for a warranty claim and it's over the 90 days? Presumeably they would say that it's 90 days so tough luck. What ever you do don't be tempted by the huge amount of crappy Kolink psu's in there.

Also people may have returned items for coil whine which find their way into B Grade. Just something to be aware of.

The warranty would probably put me off firstly though.

For PSU, I wouldn't take the chance.
High chances of being a return for some issue which doesn't affect the PSU performance, but a marginal issue, like Coil Whine.
Went for a Seasonic Focus 850 Platinum and is fantastic. Not cheap, but better than the more expensive Corsair with Coil Whine I had to return (twice).
The Prime offer nicer cables (without the double 8 pin on the same cable, which looks nicer, and the casing looks nicer, but unless you can see it, not really worth paying extra for it.

pick your PSU from that list and B grade could mean a number of things - damaged box, item returned as unwanted purchase which has the box open etc etc.

Doesnt necessarily mean it is not working. Most branded units like corsair, if you register with the manufacturer you get full warranty with them i believe. the 90days thing is just with OCUK.

pick the unit you want and speak to the manufacturer first and find out.

If you cant get the 5yr or 10yr warranty from them then I would suggest you dont buy that unit and get soemthing you can get full warranty.

I've bought a couple of b-grade kolink enclave PSUs
No issues with them and came in an as-new condition
Paid £30 for a 500w version (tier B on THG PSU tier list if you put weight on that list).
