I'm interested in getting the B&W 607 but cannot find anywhere that compares the new 607 S2 AE with the outgoing 607 and whether it's worth paying an extra £150 for, because i'm currently thinking it's not worth it.

I have heard the 607 in the past with positive results, but I cannot just waltz into SSAV or RS and trial at the moment.

Can anybody here offer any insight?

hi
its pretty much all about your room , is it possible to order online and audition at home ?

i have B+W 603 , love them

No way any difference will be worth £150 in my opinion. The speaker design has not radically changed between the generations so I’d save yourself some cash.

That review is talking out of it's backside seriously, I've spoken to a few trusted hi-fi shops and they have said the difference is very minimal,

Here is a fantastic comparison between 606 and 606s2 which would be similar to the 607 vs 607s2 in terms of differences, use google 'translate to English' and it reads very well,

Their conclusion was that they could barley hear the difference with very minimal differences.

I chose the regular 606 over the 606s2 and was recommended to do so by a friendly chap at Peter Tyson as it was much better value for money and arguably best for in it's class at the it's out going price, I got mine @ the reduced price and an extra 20% off via eBay promotion so very happy.

I love my 606 speakers too! I wouldn't spend the extra for the slight tweak that the s2 gives. Got mine from Peter Tyson too.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't settle with the B&W in the end, wasn't a massive fan and changed up the positioning to near-wall so ended up with the ELAC Debut B5.2 instead, very happy with them.
