I received my gainward last tuesday , installed it on the wednesday but have only just got around to actually playing any games today

First thing i noticed was 3dmark06 wouldnt always complete a full run, it would crash around the firefly stage, sumtimes just at the end of the arctic stage some times it would lock up and some times the monitor would kinda switch its self off and go blank and id have to reboot

so when i got time today i tried playin a few games, started off with GRID this morning and it crashed on the first lap of "gridworld" , so i tried cod4 for 15 minutes and it was fine, tried bf2 for 30 mintes and it was fine, just tried grid again and it crashed again, uninstalled the 8.7 cats then installed 8.6 and tried grid again, crashed :(

so the pc is crashing on grid and 3dmark06, yes cod4 and bf2 seem stable , the card is at stock speeds, running on win xp pro x64

any ideas ?

Furmark is a program that stress tests a graphics card. Do a google for furmark, download the program and run it for a few hours to test if the graphics card is stable.

I found the cause , it was indeed the CPU overclock seems my antec 500watt PSU couldnt handle the job, so swapped it out for a 650watt coolermaster and its running fine now :)

ho hum, i have the same problem but returning to stock doesn't help. only by underclocking the gpu to 500mhz will let me play grid.

furmark will run all day long same as with 3dmark06.

tried the latest ati ruby demo today and that makes my monitor say "signal out of range" as soon as i start the app, even changed the .ini so it runs at my native res with the same results :(
