My PC is refusing to start, at a certain point in the boot process (when loading the AGP DLL if I start in safe mode) a blue screen of death pops up, but it flashes on the screen only for an instant before the machine restarts itself. Any ideas on how to stop it on the blue screen? I've tried using pause but that doesn't work.

Thanks.

I think you'll need something like BartPE to disable auto restart in the registry - or to get access to it.
If you can't get into safe mode, diagnosing the bsod might be more effort than it's worth via the recovery console.
I'd try kb307545 (worked a few times for me, not guaranteed), give that a go, if not an easier option might be a repair install?
imo ;)

If you have the auto restart on BSOD turned on there should be an option to turn it off if you hit F8 after an automatic reboot.

Oh I didn't know that too. Shameful really, my PC has worked so well the last few years my troubleshooting skills have waned.
