B2 1155 board

Well Asus haven't been a lot of help...

Dear Valued Customer,

Please return the motherboard to your reseller so that it can be sent in for repairs to our ASP. Only your reseller can send the board in for repairs. If you reseller is no longer operating, please try send it in through some other computer store, once the board gets to our ASP it will be fitted with a new chipset, tested and sent back to you.

Best Regards,

So maybe now try asking OCUK or similar if they would be prepared to send the board of to ASUS? as the wording in that message implies that.

You can but ask? explain the situation and the email you got from ASUS, you have nothing to lose.

what i cant understand is why people didnt send them back sooner, they must have known they had a fault ........

Because of the very misinformed people posting here and elsewhere saying only 5% of boards were affected even though it was the estimated 5% of users who used more than one sata hard drive that would be affected. All B2 boards were defective.

If you intended to use all your SATA ports, yes you should have swapped it.

In fact you should have swapped it anyway.

Personally i didnt swap mine for 2 reasons, first i wasnt using the affected ports and second i didnt want any downtime.

However since building my machine ive decided i want SLI so ive got a new B3 board, so now its convienientg to return the old board :)

Have they agreed you can return the old board?

With the exchange programmes being over I thought they were only accepting boards back which actually develop the fault.

ye but you must have known these problems may arise in long run of the b2 but to be fair m8 i think asus should accept it and good luck.

Well I've found a reseller that was willing to send it back on my behalf.

It's been sent to them, just waiting for it to be "repaired", apparently they actually swap the B2 chip for a B3 rather than exchange for a B3 model.

Then I will just have to wait to hear what it's going to cost for them to deal with it on my behalf, I would expect a minimum of return Carriage.
