Hello everyone hope you are all well, i have been away a long time i have build my last 2 pcs with all the help from here, i currently only have my laptop what is not a gaming laptop, was thinking about getting one but to pricey,
just asking for your thoughts on the new hardware available seen lots of recomendations for the new AMD processor ? My last build was a i5 setup but kids were young and never got a chance to use so ended up selling it, i want to build a gaming rig to play the total war series on max settings and similar games, i will build in a smaller case and most likely connect to my tv not wanting a list of parts yet just some advice and opinions on hardware etc is the new AMD classed as better now etc ? Will most likely not want to spend more than £500-600 will i get a decent setup for that price that will play the new total war games for next 3 or 4 year ? want future proof for at least few year worth of total war etc, Also only the pc dont need keyboard or mouse or anything else.

Also is there a new processor or hardware due to come out soon thays worth waiting for

Any help welcome
Thanks dean

Hya, rumors are in May AMD will issue a memory recognition fix, and all the AM4 motherboards will start to work well with 2666+ memory (now it is more like a lottery, some are not recognized and dus working at lowspeed).
If this is true, maybe it is worth waiting next 2-3-4 weeks, as Ryzen is pretty bound to the memory speeds and clocks.

Also there are rumors 'i' will dig another 5% increase for their new CPU line, which (rumors, again) would be expected around back-to-school and which (not rumor but bitter 6+ years experience) will be advertised as 15-30% CPU performance increase. But no rumors about the socket are known to me. Of course this part is interesting only for the sweet aftereffect of current and previous generations being sold 2nd hand at bearable pricess.

So, 'A' or 'i' - you should have one big 2+ weeks meditation on that topic.

Ok i will be waiting a month or so anyway might start getting a list etc, will that budget get a decent gaming rig ?and are the amd ryzen processors better than the i5s at the minute as seen them mentioned a lot

Thanks dean

will around £500 get a decent gaming rig to play total war etc on ? and are the ryzen processors seen as better than i5 ?

thanks Dean

and would it be future proof enough at that price for next 3-4 years worth of total war games etc ?

any help or opinions are appreciated
thanks dean

For longevity, consider the Ryzen platform. 1600 six core better at around £230 and a B series MB, probably £80. Then RAM. Probably £100.

Add another £150 or so for monitor (or save £80-£100 and use your TV) and HDD.

That is approximately £560.You can tweak the above to allow a budget for the GPU. Not certain about what is required to run those games. Oh, not sure if you need OS and PSU but that gives you and idea.
