Hi again all,
My last post was about building a spec for £700 and I came away with a lot of information and I'm about there to buy just need a few things cleared up and a definitive specc:
I've decided to go for the 6850 due to the price and the possibility in the future to buy a second and Xfire them. Getting the 6850 has given me the possibility to get a new monitor as well to get 1080 as I'm currently on 1600 x 900.
Another point was to mention that I've been told that I wouldn't need a "great" PSU as i5's are particularly low usage so is a 550W really needed? Could I go lower for a cheaper and lower model?
Another thing to consider is, I know the risks of Pre-built vs Self-Built was really trying to get your take on it, I can get more for my money on Self-Built but I do lack the experience in putting them together and the compatibility also the spacing inside the case.
Here is the specc I have so far:
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £167.99
MSI ATI Radeon HD 6850 Cyclone Power Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £119.99
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £81.98
Cooler Master HAF 912 Case - Black £52.99
OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £52.98
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ) £41.99
Sub Total : £431.60
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DPD Next Day Parcel
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £10.50
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £88.42
Total : £530.52
On-top of this, I currently have a SATA drive that I can just transfer over and will not be needing an operating system. Could it be possible to add in an SSD and load the operating system and games onto this? So if you could possibly help on finishing off this killer specc that will be used for high-end gaming (bf3, mw3 and SWOTR when it's released) then it will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
