Hi all,

If i was to take my car to Powerflow or Longlife, how much would i be looking at to have a back box fabricated?

I did see a really neat design on a saxo, where because the exhaust would sit under the bumber, he had a normal pipe made up out of sight, so you couldnt see a tailpipe, looks really neat.

On the other hand i'd go for whats cheapest :D

Cheers,

Phil

Steath exhaust, quite a few people have these on cliosport only thing is they can have the effect of looking/sounding like your exhaust is blowing due to a lack of a tailpipe. Wouldn't have thought it'd take more than a few hours max for just a backbox.

A bit like the 106GTi's standard exhaust?

Ooof, don't want to be paying that much at all.

I've been told they will only fabricate full systems, ill have to go to my local place for a quote :)

Powerflow in Croydon seemed good, but expensive.

Why dont you want to see the tailpipe?

I too have heard horror stories about some of the branches not doing adequate jobs, using the wrong grade of SS (or not what the customer asked for, anyway) and welding not being the best, also stories of systems rattling against the underside of the car due to poor fabrication.

My friend took his Van to Powerflow in Crewe and they did a cracking job, though.

There's no recess in the bumper for the exhaust, and it looks a little out of place, just thought it would be different if you couldn't see a tailpipe at all!

I went to Aylesbury to get mine fitted.

What basis have you for saying stay away from Powerflow?

I gave them a backbox + connecting pipe to fit on my car.

A year later it had rusted through but when i took it to my local garage it turns out that the pipe which connect the centre section to the backbox was just cut off of the old exhaust and welded on to the new one.

So instead of having a completely new system (cat-back), i actually had a new centre section and new backbox but the bit inbetween was from the original exhaust and thus rusted through pretty quickly. So i have recently had to replace the whole system because of their bodged work.

:(

That's bad luck!

The Powerflow people at Aylesbury did a cracking job on my car... Spoke to me for a while to find out what kind of sound I wanted/size of tailpipes etc.
Let me listen to a couple of their own cars to help me make a judgement.

Then when the job was done, invited me into the workshop to check the underneath of my car.

All in all ace service, but I guess as with all franchises it depends on who you get on the day.

I had a Powerflow back box on when the pug standard one rusted through very quickly.

Cost £150 over a year ago now, its got a bit louder that I wanted but it's still there and it aint rusty.

The backbox and centre section were pretty much as good as new, its just the middle bit they cut off the old one which was rusted right through.

As can be seen here:
