Coming back to PC after many years with Macs, problem is no I have no idea what I need, I dont understand the chipsets or GPUs available today.

Got £1000 to spend can someone spec me a system for general gaming / photo use based on the Silverstone FT03 case
 
Sorry better clarify, already got case, a copy of Win7 Pro and thats about it.

Photo use nothing major, my old imac handled it fine and that had a C2D 2500S in it, would like to edit the 1080p video from my panasonic FZ150 in addition.

Like bacons idea of some water cooling in that case but choice is yours as it costs more,


do you need an optical drive? as it looks inbuilt to me? just cant find somewhere to confirm it.

Update time I am going to use some old kit to free up a bit more cash

I have a 22" monitor, keyboard and mouse I can use for now plus a 500gb hdd so for now I will only need an ssd
