Just ordered myself a high end rig of E8400, 4 gigs of RAM, a 3870x2 and a 24" Illyama monitor and am going to need some games to stick on it!!

Obviously there's Crysis, but what else has come out in the last year that I should try? Any settlers/civ/sim city style games about? Good shooters and racers too?

If your looking to play online then it has to be CoD4 which also has a decent SP mode. Other SP games which should be considered are TimeShift and Bioshock both are excellent FPS.

The Orange Box (I can run it in full detail at 1920x1200 on my 8800 GTS so you shouldn't have a prob on yout 24" with that card).

Stalker is the dog's ********. Play it with the Simbion mod with textures. As well as making the graphics really sweet, it makes the game into what the developers first promised. Totally simulated world in which very few things are scripted. And the atmosphere!
I didn't like COD4. It looked a bit primitive like a console game and the enemies would spawn endlessly until you advanced to a further position.
For racing games, you've got to try GTR2 and Race07. I recommend a good wheel such as the Logitech G25.
Timeshift is a corker of an FPS albeit a bit linear after the masterpiece which was Stalker.

I am new in PC gaming and i have found a really juicy vault called metaboli.

It is a download service, you pay £7 or £13 monthly and get access to 160 or 220 games. They add 3 per month or so.
The software they use is a bit crappy imo, but it works.

The think i like the most is that i have a chance to play and try games i would have only touched with a pole.
