hey all, have just re-installed steam after much time away and am having immense fun playing old half life, CS and DOD, cheers for the inspiration!

anyways my question to you is that I never got round to buying HL2 :eek: shocker I know. so if I were to get DOD:S which i'm sure I would love, would I be able to play insurgency mod? I only ask as I have seen people saying you can use it on CS:S and HL2 but no word on DOD:S

I would usually fork out for HL2 but apart from anything else I'm having my single player needs satisfied by oblivion at the moment. just got the feeling there aren't enough hours in the day for SP two games
 
**** oblivion. Get hl2 and say goodbye to life for two weeks. It deserves to be played by everyone.
 
both are very good single player games, personally i would play both, oblivion can get dull at times and it is great to be able to alt f4, boot hl2 and just shoot stuff for the hell of it :)

You should definately give hl2 a try though, one of the best single player games out there

*edit* i forgot what the OP wanted, i think it works with dod, just make sure you download the sdk base first from the tools menu within steam
 
HL2 is overated LOADS, the engine is good, it looks good, but the gameplay is boring and dull, but CSS and other mods like DoD:S and Insurgency are all brilliant.
 
haha, thought there might be a bit of OMG you dont have HL2! well i'll wait until I'm bored of oblivion for that, dont fret its on the cards...

anyways I've just bought DOD:S off steam, couldnt say no for 6 notes. I'll get the SDK base too, I take it thats the nuts and bolts of the souce engine?

maybe a little off topic but the minimum i have ever had from steam is 800kb/s and max is 2200kb/s and i use virgin media, i don't know why everyone slates steam downloads, they work fine for me
 
yeah dont worry about it, they used to work fine for me untill my connection went **** up, some places were badly effected my the change from Ntl to virgin media, and where i live was one of them :p

Hehe, I personally find CSS and DoD:S highly boring and repetitive, but each to their own I guess! :p HL2: DM on the other hand is brilliant!! :D
 
ha, DOD:S is the best fun i've had on a computer in ages (can you tell i have an afternoon to kill?)

i suck though, anyone able to recomend any servers to pay my dues on? or shall i just keep connecting to random public servers for the time being
 
For DOD:S I'd recommend the Irish Rangers in Europe server. Truly nice peeps on there. Pretty much full with 32 players all the time.#

DOD 1.3beta was the best version by far, none of the beta 2.0 recoil and other nasties
