its been a long time since I've been on my bike, I've been rehabbing an injury to my knee ligaments and fighting the muscle wastage associated with the injury for the last 2 years.

7 months ago climbing stairs was still an issue and slopes were to be avoided where possible.

Finally the physio got me to the point where increased exercise would be a good progression and 2 months after that we tried the exercise bike at the physio - under strict instruction to stop at the first sign of pain and not to cycle for more than 15 minutes.

Not long ago I was allowed to go on an actual bike! (but only on relative flat routes) so last weekend the wife and I get the bikes out the shed - we'd recently got them serviced - and off we went.

Now its not going to seem much for you guys who think nothing of day long treks but I managed 7 1/2 miles on Sunday and could still walk at the end of it.

Was the most fun exercise I've done in a long time and I'm really chuffed about it. 6 months ago neither the physio or I thought I'd be on a bike this year.
Already made the wife promise we can go out again this weekend (if the weather is good) and maybe try a bit further - I'll try and target 10 miles :)

My bike isn't anything fancy its a shop special - a mongoose Montana - but I'd forgotten how much fun just being out on the bike could be.

I'm excited about it and wanted to share :)
