Cant you just apply heat via a gas torch? Which gets the old oil and colour reflowing again.

you got to remember to clean it first, polish it, remove contaminants etc and "prep" the surface, then you can apply the product, and then put a seal over the top (ceramic coat for example) it was last 10 times longer

I use the Autofinesse Revive gel for this sort of stuff and it works great

I used Cherry Blossom liquid shoe polish (the type with the foam applicator) on my FN2 Civic after reading online about it, and the results were fantastic. Thoroughly clean the trim and apply when dry. You do have to buff it in to prevent streaks.

When I sold it the buyer commented he hadn’t seen another with trims in such good condition!
