How can I edit the thread title, wish to change it to, Back to Gaming.
I forgot about the already amazing man cave thread when I named my thread and now its popped back to the top i feel inadequate ashamed and just down right jealous. Can I change it?

I've posted in a couple of threads and asked about spec and budgets. Thanks to Stulid for the spec checks, Ive finally bought the PC.

I sold my old PC when a back injury, bulging discs that have now settled, (dehydrated disc' the 5 main ones are empty and drying out) left me unable to sit at my desk and play games for any length of time. Took a while to admit it but sitting at the desk for 2+ hours a night and longer at the weekend want going to get me any better.
I used to help run a gaming clan and was responsible for maintaining a dedicated server hosted in Germany. I had been online gaming since not long after you could, playing counter Strike on a 128k Cable and Wireless connection. So it was a bit of a shock having to walk away from all that friendship and community after so many years, I just couldn't do it any more.

Nearly 2 years later and I'm ready to get back online, i'll still need to be careful but the itch just needs scratching. I need to get back online gaming.

My wife suggested clearing out the storage room thats built into the house, my old desk was in the triangular gap under the stairs, access is via a door on the rear wall next to the main back door. Making it my Office/mini mancave. No I'm not a mini man I'm 6'2".
This delayed the purchase explaining my many requests for spec checks etc. I bought a Brix for the living room to replace the Pi in the mean time.

I cannot remember the exact size of the room, roughly 2m x 1.6m, but we've already laid a wooden floor so my wife could use it as a craft room (never happend) painted the walls and fitted storage and a work bench.

This is what happened.......

So after some sorting, selling and skipping. I managed, sorry we managed, to get to this. Oh and a trip to Ikea.....

Thats as far as I've got. My mate made me promise that I wouldn't build it until he comes round later today. So to pass the time I though I'd let you guys see what I've been up to.

I'll post pics of the finished PC. Just going to keep it simple and clean, as it comes. Also my thoughts on the monitor. Eventually I'll get two more monitors so I can triple screen for flight sims etc. Ive never had the space before and now i do, well it'll be almost criminal not to.

Now I also need to decide what pictures to put up. Fast cars, semi naked ladies ohhh I could even hang old star wars spaceship modles from the roof. Its MY ROOM!!!!!!!!

Echo/sound absorbing material, any recommendations. Brick walls and wooden floor = not nice for sleeping wife in the bedroom above.

Thanks.

Nice one. Get some decent hardware in there and it can double as a sauna :D

Herman Miller mate. I bought my Sayl around six months ago and I tell you, best thing I've ever bought. Every other chair I owned went on the bum section leaving you sitting on plastic or plywood. I got so sick of spending £150 on a chair expecting it to be better. Out of the four chairs I've bought since 2008 three of them had the gas strut die, so I was typing on a bloody elevator most of the time.

But yeah. If you respect your spine and bottom then go Herman Miller. Nothing else I've had even comes close.

Luckily there is a window, but no heating. It's on the north rear face so should be ok. It gets warm enough from being part of the main house. Ok to work in On cold winter nights but sitting at a pc I mat get a small heater just to take the chill off. Depending on the PC out put once I've overclocked. Lol.

Thanks for the tip on chairs. I've been following some of the spec me threads as well. Prices are high but spines are priceless.

It reminds me of the brick shed I used as a den when I was a kid. I had a two seat sofa crammed in there and a portable telly. Used to love curling up on the sofa and watching TV in there. Really snug and felt safe :)

You need some decent posters or framed posters man. I've got a couple I used to use including a 80s original Pac Man poster and a Doom 3 poster :)

I'm going to look in to getting some posters printed onto that sound absorbing fabric. They would look like a canvas picture when hung. I really need to reduce the echo.

When I've sat in there it is cosy with the door shut.

Got the PC built tonight, no pics as yet. Download win 8.1 and put on bootable usb and install drivers etc tomorrow. I Need to pick up a temporary chair and home plug for internet as well.

Not had chance to look at wall coverings yet. Out tonight so that's it for today.

Thanks for the comments.

PC set up and running. Had a couple of hours gaming on Dayz. 1920x1080 144hz high setting and no issues. I cannot believe how quiet the PC is, very impressed.

Bought a chair to use for now until I can get a better one. Plenty of room to the left for tinkering with RC kit.
