Right, hi guys

I was big into OCing about 10years ago but since having kids and no spare cash/time things have changed and iv splashed out on some new gear each week.

i5 4670k

asus z87 - k - Motherboard

OC Value Dominator Case -http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-058-OK

Samsung SSSD

HIS 280x GPU.

What im buying right now is an air based CPU cooler. I couldnt get a cooler when i bought the i5 so put the stock cooler on knowing i would invest in a proper one soon.

My first question is, will i need some special cleaner to remove the stock cooler from my chip - its only been on for a fortnight.

Iv put some MX2 thermal paste in my basket, but do i need a cleaning kit?

2) Second question is, what coolers should i look at? Iv not got the dominator case yet so dont know how large it is ( iv ben using an old coolermaster stacker giant case for the time being )

Finally, is it normal for the i5 4670k to run at x45 multi ( 4.5hz ) without having to up the voltage? iv still set it to default and manual in the biosand cpu-z shows it running at 4.5 but still get to about 83c after a about 15min on the occt linpack test.

thank you in advance

Welcome back!

You could buy some isopropyl alcohol but it is expensive just for one off use. You can use a baby wipe, vodka, certain type pure nail varnish things like that to clean it. Just use small amounts but others may have better ideas.

Yes that looks good enough if your shipping with other purchases. If your case fits it can you get an AIO cooler?

I had a Zalman HSF on my E8500 still going now is good, some felt it may not of performed as good as the leading alternatives at the time.

Unfortunately I am not an intel king right now so will leave that to the current users, but most products these days should do the job, if in doubt check out the reviews from other buyers.
