Hi all

Not been a green boy for years now since my FX5900, and just installed my GTO and was wondering what is everyone using to o/c. I want to see how far this great card goes!
Ps Sorry if its a stupid question.

Riva Tuner or Coolbits.

Im not an overclocking tech head at all, just picked up on what the other tech heads have been discussing on that.

What is considered a safe overclock limit?

Suppose it depends on your case maybe? my case is small so I guess im best leaving it at stock when I get it.

your limit is when you start to get artifacts or screen freeze's

Just leave the side of the case off if it gets too hot. Mines off can hardly hear it. Mind you I do have water on the CPU at the mo.

The way I see it, if you arent putting anymore volts through it, it wont get that much hotter by overclocking. Its limit will however be limited depending on how much you want to overclock it.

Its a case of try it and see what works Im afraid. Nothing else you can do but that. :)

Is it wise to leave the case off?

So long as you monitor temps, to see if it is affect the CPU, it'll be fine. If it does adversly affect the CPU, which I highly doubt, then it'll be safe to leave the side off yeah :D

w00t my card arrived today and i can't wait to try this baby out ... it sux I have to work till 6 though

I noticed on the back of the box that MSi supply their own overclocking tools? If so, is it any good?
