I have my eye on the new aorus x7 laptop and was wondering can you install Windows 7 on it or will it cause problems?

Should not be a problem as long as you can get all the drivers for the hardware from the interwebs..

Why would you want to go back to 7?

Yeah stick with Windows 8 - it has DirectX 11.1 built in and you will see a few extra FPS in newer games. If you are worries about the BS hype of Windows 8 being **** - don't, with the 8.1 update it is virtually the same as Windows 7 but has a few extra features that make it better, and faster.

Maybe stick with Windows 8 to start with and install Start8, StartisBack or Classic Shell to get the old Start Menu back if that is what bothers you.

If you still don't like it (which I could understand as there are differences which aren't everyone's' cup of tea, despite what fanboys would have you believe) then yes, Windows 7 will operate fine.

Indeed. While 8.1 is a great OS once you've installed Start8 or similar and set it to boot to desktop, it does have under-the-hood changes that affect things like firewall/AV drivers, networking drivers etc which for me is a deal breaker. My VPN provider's app won't work properly in 8.x because of this and as such Windows 7 in classic mode is the best bet for me until it's sorted out.

Overall though unless you have a specific reason, as I have, to avoid Win8 it's definitely the one I'd recommend. It's even lighter and faster than 7 and has some great tweaks to freshen Explorer and bring it up to date. :)

Ideally I would like to have Win7 and if overclockers does stock the model with Win7 I will buy that if not I'll stick with 8 and try it out. Cheers for your inputs.
