back-up android phone to pc?

I'm RMA-ing my phone and wondering if I can back it up to my pc, so that I can restore it to the replacement phone and keep everything - it's not rooted

Can you install an alternative recovery? I always use TWRP which allows you to take a FULL backup of everything on the phone and you can copy that file to a pc to then allow you to restore it when you get the phone back.

These days the google backup is quite good as well brings back most of your apps etc so you might not need anything else.

But you can't beat the complete backup for peace of mind. Did that when I had to RMA my old Nexus 7 tablet.

yeah, I just don't really want to root it just before sending it back to them!
It's not like there's much important on it anyway!

Just installing TWRP won't root your device.
Installing SuperSU, either from within TWRP or separately will root your device.
