Im going to be reinstalling win 7 over the weekend,i know how to back up and reinstall my firefox book marks but is there a way of saving the passwords for each site too ? usually when i reinstall windows the bookmarks load fine but each one requires me to enter the password/loggin details again

any way to back those up ? are they kept in a file anywhere ?

You can get an add on named Password Exporter for firefox. I've used it a few times when reinstalling and had no problems with it. It basically exports all your passwords to an xml file, which then you import on reinstall :)

Great stuff and just what I needed :)
Now to figure out how keypass works and I think that I'm reasonably secure.

Or just copy your Firefox profile location, that way all your bookmarks passwords and add ins are all backed up at once then just restore or keep safe on a separate drive.

Use an extension called FEBE (install again once you have redone windows), do a full profile backup then when you come to sorting out Firefox after redoing windows it restores Firefox to what it was like before, it's very simple and easy to use.
