Back up of photos. A question

Hi.

I have enjoyed taking photos with my DSLR of places and now my family. Over the past 15 years I have created folders with the photos in and stored them on two laptops and also a spare hard drive.

I like to use Lightroom

My folder structure looks like this:

2015 / John birthday party

Now starting to get into Google Photos.

I was thinking of backing up all my photos into that.

Is that a good idea. As it seems it has unlimited space.

Just never want to loose the photos. Ever.

Yes, use Google Photos. 100GB is a couple of quid a month, 2TB £79 a year.

Can use albums as folders but the search/sharing functionality is where the value's at (and of course, redundancy... I don't think they could ever be lost apart from a manual user deletion).

It's an excellent system (especially from my perspective after the demise of Crashplan).
