Back up software.

Hi there.

My friend is a photographer and has 3 computers, connected to a 1Gb LAN which has a server with a 1Tb HDD.

He wants to backup his photo's from all 3 PC's.

Anybody recommend a decent software package? Thanks.

robocopy

simple and perfect for file backups

if they're all vista, then it has it already, otherwise download from here http://bleddyn.co.uk/help/1files/ROBOCOPY.EXE , drop that into C:\windows\system32

then make a bat file (ask me if you don't know how)


robocopy /e C:\sourcedir \\destinationpc\destinationdir





first time you run it, it'll copy all files/folders, the second time it'll only copy new & updated ones

perfect solution for this situation


it'll pee all over acronis in speed terms, acronis is meant for full system backups (and is great for that)
