Hi all im just about to format my laptop and install Windows Vista

Now i have my laptop running as good as i want it.
Now my question is there anyway of backing up the complete Xp installation that i have so i could put a cd/dvd in and restore it to exactly how it is now??

Thanks

Would this allow me to boot from a fresh formatted hdd
Well what i mean is is it a bootable disc image??

Yes, once installed simply create a bootable CD from within the program...

Also, if your laptop has either a Seagate or Maxtor HDD in it, you could use DiscWizard or MaxBlast which are the same and is basically Acronis True Image Home 11 with a couple of minor features removed, also have a look in the Partition/HDD Backup/Management section for other possible freeware backup utilities...

Yeah, Acronis TI is superb, highly recommended. There was a thread here a wee while ago where a load of us got Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition free but we had to jump through a few "hoops" to get it as there was an issue with serials getting emailed properly etc.

Well worth it, I've not used a backup solution that is so easy to understand and get working.

Well i tried and used Acronis and i must say it was so simple to restore the Laptop back to its former glory

Worked very well cheers guys for the help :)
