Background app refresh

Hi

I notice WhatsApp is using around 12% background activity on my iPhone 15pro.

If I disable background app refresh for this app, is there anything it will stop doing, will I still get notifications pushed and message data backed up?

Anyone have it disabled for WhatsApp?

AFAIK it's only used for automatic backups to iCloud.

Ok perhaps I will keep it enabled then, I guess that’s what is was doing as not seen it in battery usage that often, until today.
