Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S20FE and last night noticed 3 instances of a message thread to the same contact when I opened apps running. What could be causing this please?

Do you mean the recent apps screen? Is the Messages app fully up to date?

Yes exactly that, the recent apps screen. It says the app is up to date

Not really, all manufacturers uses their own SMS app, so it's different for each Android phone. Samsung uses Samsung Messages but I believe newer models are now using a reskinned version of Google Messages. I think the S20 still uses Samsung Messages? Could try replacing it with Google Messages and see if the same bug crops up: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging&hl=en_GB&gl=US

I read that it could be that I opened the message from a notification bubble which causes another instance on occasion?

Could be a setting in Samsung Messages to display different threads as their own entry but probably bugged out. A quick look at the Galaxy store it hasn't been updated since September 2021, so it may not work properly for newer OneUI versions.

Did you have a look at the app settings to see if there was a way to disable this?

Hmmm I'm not sure I would know what area of the app settings I would know how to disable?

Unfortunately I don't have a Samsung phone to check it with. Did you already have a look at the settings to see if anything look related to recent apps?

Settings takes me to a contact us page. Maybe I should try that out see if there's similar problems!
