My mum's just ordered a first gen iPad Air to replace her iPad 1. By the time it arrives, I won't be available to help her out, so I'm looking for some advice about transferring her data from her old iPad onto her new one.
I've done similar backup/restores many times in the past, but always with devices running the same OS version. Because her iPad is so old, it's running iOS 5, and the new one will be on iOS 8. So, is it still as simple as plugging her old iPad into iTunes, clicking backup, then plugging her new one in and clicking restore from backup? Will it still work, despite the different OS versions? I'm guessing it won't port iOS 5 onto the new iPad, as it's too new.
Many thanks.
