Backing up & compression

Is there a good program that could backup my multimedia files to a dedicated HDD with a fairly good compression ratio?

Multimedia files are already compressed, don't bother trying

If you have wav files, bmp files and raw avi files, they might compress a little, but it's largely pointless for media files

Unfortunately if your multimedia files are pictures or videos, it is unlikely that you could compress them any further. Paragon backup is pretty good for backups. (the free version).
