I thought I'd seen a thread regarding this ,I've been back 17 pages and found nowt , so , I hope someone will answer this for me. I'm going to do a format in a few days and will have to back up my stuff etc . In the past I've never bothered to backup e-mails and just lost them with the format .But I have receipts and things from e-bay and from various other company I would to keep. I've noticed you can export them to Outlook ,in doing so can I import them to Outlook Express ??. What would be the correct way to go on this one ??

Not sure how to back up in Express, there maybe an export option, but in the future, click the option Leave a copy on server, that way when ever you format your emails will come back!

OE's folders can be found via Tools -> Options -> Maintenance -> Store Folder. Change it to something more memorable such as "My Documents\Outlook Express".

After you've reinstalled, point OE to wherever you've restored your OE folders and files.

I always set OE to save emails on a storage drive, that way if the OS gets corrupted I still have my Emails.
You should be able to store them on a USB pen. I only delete spam emails and I have only got 25 megs of emails all told.

You should be able to save everything as a PST file. This can then be transfered to Outlook after you've done the format and it'll keep your folder layout too.

Cheers for the replys guy's. There is a export facility in Outlook Express , I've tried it but it wont let me do it , IMAPI error . So , I looked in my profile and they are there . I've just copied the file ........there .dbx files and saved it. I'll know if it works after my re-install .
