Behind you... Naked!
I dont know where to start, so I will start in the middle and hopefully someone will grasp what I am trying to do.

I know ZILCH about iphones

I have setup a laptop with itunes for my wifes iphone 4 as she users that with her DAB radio to play her songs, but thats about it.

My daughter however, has NEVER used itunes, and now she wants to put her songs off her PC onto it.

She also has a load of songs already on the iphone as well as a load of pictures and video clips.

now, if I was to connect her iphone to the PC and sync, the files on her iphone will be wiped... I dont want that!

I want to get the stuff OFF her iphone first.

How do I do that using itunes?

( Small note - I have now managed to get the files off the iphone but without itunes )

hang on, I think that was fairly clear actually...

Can anyone help me then?

Thanks.

I hate how iTunes works.
I use ImToo software for transferring songs, videos etc etc from my iPad,iPhones to my PC and vice versa.

It ain't too dear to buy and is very simple to use.

Google ImToo software and check out the iPhone software.
They do a trial which lets you add one song at a time, this will give you a feeling of how it works and if you like it or not.
It does require iTunes to be installed on your PC but this ain't no big deal really.

I like it and have used it for years. If my memory serves me right there used to be a FREE bit of kit similar, can not remember it's name though, sorry.

Hope this helps.

Oh absolutely. Itunes is crap software for retards. I despise it in every way possible, I also despise the way that iphones work and that they require you to use apples software - I reject anything that does this.

Thats why I love android.

But that said, I use Wondershare mobile go for my android devices and the newer versions are iphone compatible, and so I myself use that... I myself DONT use itunes but I do need it to work for my daughters iphone as she does NOT want to use anything else!

I will check out the imtoo stuff though.. It might be right for her, I dont know, there is only one way to find out!

Thanks.

Ah, that was a very quick decision... I clicked on the link you gave me and the first number that came up was $41.97

So thats made my decision right there. No way no how.

I already have MobileGo and itunes is free so im not paying for software that will do what I already can do. As I said... My dont use iphones, its for my daughter.

Never mind.

Didn't you even think of creating another user account on the PC in question.

As long as iTunes was configured at install (if this is required, and if it's a windows PC) to be accessible by all users, then once iTunes is run on the new user account it would consider it as a new setup and wouldn't touch anything in the other user folder since it wouldn't have the permission to access that folder (I hope, but then it wouldn't be able to access the iTunes account in the other user folder), so when it is synced with the new account nothing should be wiped and the account data on the device should be copied over (although the account would have to be signed in and have the computer/user account linked to the iTunes/apple account).

I might be talking out of my backside, but then again it might be mostly accurate.

Hell no!

All my PCs have one account on them.
Everyone in my family has their own PC and the main PC has just the one account. It has this cos of a few reasons...
1- Im never off the thing
2 - when I turn my back, the missus jumps onto her friggin ebay
LOL
So no, I have no intention of ever having more than the one account on any PC.

I am trying to work out what the hell the rest of your post was all about?

I will assume that you have missed out on what I was saying, and that you think that I was wondering about the music or data on my PC going onto the iphone?

No, what I was on about, was that her iphone has stuff on it, she wants itunes to get files onto her iphone but when I put itunes onto her PC, and it synchronisesm it will remove the files that are on her iphone to renew it with files on her PC.

So, I have used Wondershare to save all the files on her iphone, and then installed itunes and then copied the files back to her PC and then after synchronizing, it has worked as I hoped it would.

I was rather hoping that I could do it with itunes thats all.

Seems to be a huge flaw in the iphone / itunes there, that as in the case of people like my daughter, who have the iphone and then get itunes at a later date, that they would destroy their data?

I am now thinking that surely they can setu pa cloud account and it will do it automatically anyway???

Bugger I will look into that.

My androids do it... My Samsung phone, 7" Tab3 and my Tab S, all look and feel the same because they are all synced up and any changes I amke to one, affect the others. I love that.
