When Snow Leopard comes out, I want to do a fresh install. However, I want to keep my itunes library. Whats the best way of backing it up? Also, will I be able to preserve unembedded artwork and Sort fields?

Just make a copy of the 'iTunes' folder that exists in 'Music' and put it on a external volume

Once 10.6 is installed and tweaked, start up iTunes and point it towards where your music is by holding the 'Option' key when starting the program and select your 'iTunes Library.itl' file.

It will then re-create your iTunes library.

As Will mentioned in his first paragraph which backups everything in iTunes library. Instead of telling iTunes where your library is, you can just put the folder back where it used to be in Leopard in Snow Leopard and it will just be the same as it was before.

You might also want to back the 'com.apple.iTunes.plist' file found in User/Library/Preferences in case you have made any changes to iTunes preferences.

To add, all artwork that has been user-modified is embedded in the tracks themselves.

Those added by iTunes will have to be added again through the Advanced > Get album artwork menus
