Backing up router config??

Im about to replace my Linksys WRT54G router with a WRT54GL. Im using the tomato firmware and would like to use this firmware with my new router, ive Backed up the Configuration of my current router which has given me a cfg file. When i get my new router can i just upgrade the firmware to the lastest tomato firmware and restore the configuration file from my old router? Im pritty sure ill be able to but wasnt sure as they are slightly different router models??

In theory yes as long as the tomato versions are the same or use the same form of config file, the only problem could be if the config structure has changed between versions but that's unlikely.
