Backing up vbulletin

What's the best (and easiest) way of doing this please?

I have a forum being used and would like to have it backed up every now and then.

I'm with Fasthosts. Latest version of vBulletin running.

I've always done it by logging into the Control Panel for my web host and taking a backup of your SQL database from there.

Every now and then I'd take a snapshot of the /public_html folder via FTP, too.

Have you ever had to, and succeeded, in restoring a backup this way?
