Backlight bleed problem, is this normal?

So the wife bought me a 27" Samsung monitor with a PLS panel for Xmas and something just doesn't look right to me. The screen is not uni-formally lit even in bright light so I did a back light test and this is the result.

Where do I stand on getting this replaced or am I stuffed?

right corner looks very bad, i would return it.

That's the thing, she bought it for me in the last week of November and it's been sat until xmas day unopened so I can't just return it, it would need to have a fault and I'm unsure if this could be classed as one.

It's faulty, just ask for an RMA.

That would drive me nuts.

So just found out she bought it from Argos....
Returning this is going to be interesting.
