Basically I've got a samsung 22inch P2270 LCD and I've started to notice that the right side of the screen isn't the same brightness as the left. When the monitor goes into standby mode its far more obvious with a large smeer looking mark where the brightness is different. I've tried cleaning it etc but it makes no difference. Had it since october/novemeber 09 time so still within warranty. Ideas?

I've sent samsung an email regarding the issue. I just tried windows high contrast theme to actually see how bad it really was and its over 1/4 of my entire screen lol. Gonna take it into my local store where I bought it from and show them and see what can be done (use to work there for 7 years so it should be sorted!)

Telephoned samsung today and had a guy whispering down the telephone "i dont want to talk to youuuuuu" which really didn't help my mood lol. Next guy I got though was good, explained that not only did I get shafted on my warranty (I thought I had 1 year, my reciept says 1 year) but samsung say I've got 3 years, I've also gotta wait at least 8 days turnaround for repair which is out of the question at the moment due to uni work :(

Upto 28 days as well which is abit harsh! Suppose at least it will get sorted though

Up to 28 days is what's deemed reasonably, doesn't mean it will take that long, it has to be back before then.
Also I'm not sure what he means about the warranty, most shops only offer 1 year regardless of manufactures warranty, unless that shop has a good deal with the manufacturer.

Apple for example say 14 days to the place I work, after that the customer should contact them. Although postage is free, this contravenes everything else sold by any other electronics manufacturer.
