backpack for running

lol you dont need to carry extra weight, just do intervals or go further, adding weight will end in injury, plus carrying anything whilst running is generally uncomfortable, I can only just tolerate my nathan waist belt

Id say go full on action man, get down to your local Army store, big camo rucksack, like those hench ones from Day-Z.

Fill it with bricks, away you go.

Agreed, HIIT be better than carrying weight in a bergan.. Used to do a bit myself when I was younger, bags of sand in a backpack over 5 milers, hard graft and deffo better ways to get fit.

Perhaps this is over doing it!

I often go out whilst carrying a Bergen. It usually involves a mix between jogging and brisk walking.

When you're carrying a bag you need to make sure the weight is evenly distributed. The better way to go is perhaps to get a weighted vest. Though when / if you get a big bag just make sure it's packed properly.

Weighted vest would be a better idea IMO. As said above, you'll need to make sure the weight is evenly distributed otherwise you may regret it and bugger up your back.

As I've found, lots of water containers are better than bricks: you can get rid of the water should you injure yourself and need to dump weight.
